  1. CALL MEETING TO ORDER – Jose Gonzalez called the meeting to order at 6:00 P.M.
    1. Board Members Present: Jose Gonzalez, Laura Soto, Elda Nora Quintanilla, Deena Tetzlaff, Hilda Avila, Melinda Rheinfeldt, Isabelle Benavidez, Joey Martinez, Alfredo Gonzalez and Bryan Nicholson.
    2. Guests Present: - Martin Martinez, Shelli Ogburn, Leslie Gonzalez, Moises Rodriguez, Jimmy Barbour, Jose & Jennifer Gonzalez, Leslie Gonzalez, Larry Dovalina, Daniel Mendez, Kertik Patel, Mike Bhaktah, Kristy Courtney, Leticia Sanchez, Alicia Nieto, Daniel Mendez and Sandra Friesenhahn were present.

  1. COMMUNITY REPORT- 

 

Las Palmas – Shelli Ogburn thanked the Chamber of Commerce for the Christmas tree donations provided through the Christmas tree decorating contest held at the elementary schools in La Salle County. 

 

Stockman’s National Bank – Leslie representing the bank, first time at meeting and is looking forward to being a part of the community. 

 

Cotulla Mobile Home Park – Baylor Street light issues brought up to the city.

 

Fire Dept. – December ended quietly, but picked up again in January. Regional conference coming up, expecting approximately 75 people on January 15th. Hazardous materials class on February 4th. The Cotulla Fire Dept. will be the regional training area. They are trying to become the first rural area to carry “whole blood” as part of an upcoming pilot program for the state.  

 

First Baptist Church – Offered services to community upon request.

 

AmeriGas – Offered services to community upon request including propane needs.

 

Sunshine Boutique – Mentioned online boutique.

 

Boa Luta Academy – February 17th, 9 kids will be traveling to a championship tournament. Classes are currently scheduled on Thursdays and Saturdays. They will be adding Monday and Tuesday classes soon. 

 

Targa – Business is steady.

 

  1. CITY ADMINISTRATOR/MAYOR: Larry Dovalina – Spoke on the continuation of all city programs. April 13th will be the unveiling of the Lyndon B. Johnson monument located in front of the Welhausen school. 

 

  1. CHAIRPERSON ADDRESS – mentioned scholarship fundraiser in the next few months.  

 

 

PRESENTATION – Martin Martinez/South Texas Rural Health – Discussed new program, Suboxone, in response to the opioid epidemic. Educated members about addictions and how this program and others offered by STRH can help the community.
