COTULLA MAIN STREET:
Patsy is still working on several projects for the Main Street Program. It will not be long before the Mural of Cotulla will be unveiled. The renderings that we have seen are incredible. I cannot wait for the final touches and it can be installed. It is going to add so much to the downtown area and tell so much about the history of LaSalle County.

CITY OF COTULLA:
If you have not had an opportunity to read the article written by Thomas Tunstall in the paper, you need to. In the article he tells how our city planned well for the down turn in the oil and gas industry. There is only one other city in the Eagle Ford Shale that listened to his advice and that is Gonzales. That shows that these two cities have great administrators and councilmen and women. The city is continuing to move forward with infrastructure and completing projects set forth for this year. The city is working on their budget for 2016-2017 and getting it ready to present to the council at their September meeting.

COUNTY NEWS:
I visited with Judge Rodriguez today. He said that our county is still doing very well financially and they are also moving forward with projects that they planned for this year. The county is working on their budget for 2016-2017.
Sheriff's office continues to make arrest and put the criminals behind bars. The Sheriff has asked that we all be ever cautious around the schools in the morning and the evenings and to watch out for our school children. We as the chamber ask the same thing. Our children are precious to all of us and we want to have a year where everyone stays safe.
The Sheriff's Office will be meeting at the Talbert Ranch on September 7-9. There will be peace officers from across the state who will be attending this meeting to discuss narcotics in our state and county.

COTULLA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT:
The school year kicked off last Monday, September 22. We pray that it will be a very good year not only for the school board, administration and teachers but the students as well. We wish each of the different sports good luck in their endeavors to win at whatever the sport is as well as all of the academic UIL events our students participate in. The Cowboys played Three Rivers this week to kick off their football season. We wish them good luck with their young team but also with their interim coach. GO COWBOYS AND COWGIRLS. I pray they will represent our school with pride and dignity and show that their character and morals are above any of the other schools in the district. We have good children they just have to be encouraged.

FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH:
For those of you who do not know, the FUMC has a new minister. I had the privilege of meeting Pastor Chad Chamness at our last membership meeting. If you get a chance, please go by the church and introduce yourself and welcome he and his family to our community. Every third Wednesday they have a luncheon that they call F3. Everyone is invited to attend. It is just a get together and fellowship time. They would love for you to attend.
