GREETINGS,
I pray everyone had a blessed Easter and you have recovered from all the egg hunts and Easter candy. May we all remember what the season truly meant.
We have had a busy month at the Chamber since I wrote my last letter.
 
SHOPCO HOMETOWN COTULLA

Shopco had their grand opening last Friday, March 25. We did their ribbon cutting. There was a great turn out. We hope you will go by and check out the new store and support them in their endeavor. CATTLEMANS RESTAURANT
The Cattleman’s Restaurant is now open for business Tuesday-Friday from 5:00 P. M. to 11:00 P. M. Please go by and visit them and enjoy their great cuisine. The new General Manager, Martin Sanchez, Jr., will be there to great you and help you with your party planning or your next meeting. It is available for special events and occasions. It is available on weekends for the special events.
 
LASALLE COUNTY SHERIFF’S EASTER EGG HUNT
The LaSalle County Sheriff’s office held their annual Easter Egg Hunt in Encinal was held on March 20 and the one in Cotulla was held on March 24. I understand that they had a great turn out at both hunts. I know the sheriff’s office is very appreciative to everyone who donated toward this great cause. Most of these children would not receive anything if not for this project that the sheriff implemented three or four years ago.
PIONEER DAYS HELD IN PEARSALL
The Pioneer Days organization held their annual event on March 19. Melinda attended and took pictures. Check out the website for further information and to see the pictures Melinda took. INTERVIEW WITH TEXAS TRIBUNE
I interviewed with a journalist from the Texas Tribune on March 23. He did interviews with several individuals and businesses on the impact of the down turn of the oil and gas industry and how it is affecting our area. The article will be published at a later date.
 
BUSINESS OF THE MONTH
The Business of the Month for March was The Country Store. Owners are Jerry and Corley Cox. It is a business that has been here for many years. They sold it several years ago and then they bought it back. There are some changes coming in the new future to the Restaurant so be sure to check out the changes when they are completed.
 
Business of the Month for April is WORFE CHEVROLET. They are a new membership to our organization. We are very proud to have them as a member. We look forward to working with them and promoting their establishment.
 
COOKIE DELIVERIES
We delivered cookies to Page Aviation and Fairfield Inn and Suites for March in appreciation in their being members of the Chamber.
Cookie deliveries for the month of April will be BEN’S WESTERN WEAR and LLEWELLYN OIL CO. SUPPLY STORE.
COTULLA MAIN STREET
Cotulla Main Street is on the down side of their sidewalk project. They will be doing more on Front Street at a later date. They are almost ready to start the landscaping which is going to enhance Front Street greatly. They have installed the walkway in Veterans Park that leads up to the statue of Mr. Joseph Cotulla. The plaques have been installed. The mural is still in the working stages and they hope to have it installed in June or July.
 
CITY OF COTULLA
The City of Cotulla is still moving forward with infrastructure within the city. The paving of the streets is still on going. They are making our city more beautiful and one that we can be proud of and one to where visitor will want to come and see what we have to offer.
 
LASALLE COUNTY
LaSalle County is moving forward with several projects. The new Sports Complex is coming together very nicely. They held their grand opening for Fire Station #1 one Dobie road on March 14 from 3:30 to 6:30. If you have not visited the fire station, the chief and staff would be more than happy for you to come by and tour the fire station. They are looking to build another one in Encinal soon.
 
LASALLE COUNTY FAIR ASSOCIATION
The LaSalle County Fair Association has completed another year of THE WILD HOG COOKOFF. I understand that they had a very good turn out all three days. They are trying to improve the grounds and do things that will work for everyone involved. Congratulations on another job well done.
 
HUNTERS APPRECIATION

We are really working very hard on getting all the little bugs worked out so we will have another very successful year at the Hunters Appreciation. I meet this morning with the Jason Surles and Philip Collier from Dilley Feed and Grain to iron out some more of the details for the event. Sponsorship packets are being mailed out so if you receive a packet please consider being a sponsor for this year’s event. All proceeds go toward deserving seniors and returning college students to help further their education. We thank you beforehand for considering contributing to this worthy cause. SCHOLARSHIP APPLICANTS
The dead line for the scholarship applicants is today April 1. We have received some applications and are hoping to receive more before the day is done.
 
SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE
Scholarship Committee will meet on Thursday, April 7 at 5:30 P. M. at the A. B. Alexander Convention Center in the meeting room upstairs. We will be choosing our scholarship recipients at that time. Please make plans to attend. Scholarship Committee is: Brenda Wright, Dori Trevino, Mario Aguero, Chris Goode, Marilyn Reyes, Melinda Rheinfeldt and Dr. Jack Seals.

Page Aviation was awarded the TXDOT award for the best airport in the state of Texas this year. We are very proud of them. BY-LAWS COMMITTEE MEETING
Just a reminder that the By-Laws Committee will be meeting next Tuesday, April 5 at 5:30 P. M. in the meeting room at the A. B. Alexander Convention Center. Please make plans to attend. Members of that committee are: Brenda Wright, Dori Trevino, Chris Goode, Marilyn Reyes, Mario Aguero and Melinda Rheinfeldt.

The sign that the business of the month puts out in front of their business when they receive business of the month is missing. If you have the sign, would you please call Melinda and let her know so we can come pick it up. Thank you.
 
BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING AND REGULAR MEMBERSHIP MEETING
Board of Directors will meet at 5:00 P. M. April 12 and the Regular Membership will meet at 6:00 P. M. at the A. B. Alexander Convention Center in the Meeting room upstairs. Please make plans to attend.
