GREETINGS,
Spring is almost here and we can almost smell the freshness in the air. We are very busy here at the office getting ready for Wild Hog Cook-Off weekend and other various functions.
 
HOSPITAL DISTRICT
The Hospital District held a Town Hall meeting at the A. B. Alexander Convention Center on February 2, 2016. It was well attended by the community.
 
CONDOLENCES
We send our condolences to the family of Mr. Beto Ruiz longtime owner of Uncle Moe’s. He was a pillar of this community for many years and ran the business with his family. We want the family to know that we they are in our prayers.
 
Marc RobertsongHONOREE
 
The Chamber honored Marc Robertson, former Frio-Nueces Current editor, with a plaque and gift certificate at the Chamber meeting on February 9 in appreciation for his 20 years of coverage of community events in LaSalle County. Marc wrote extensively on Chamber activities and other public functions in Cotulla and Encinal. 
We want to thank him again for a job well done and all that he did for our organization. We wish Marc great success in his new job with the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office.
 
SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE
The Scholarship Committee met on February 11 at 6:00 P.M. to discuss changes that needed to be made to the scholarship application. The applications have been sent to the school. Dead line for the scholarships to be turned in is April 1, 2016. Students who have attended college this year and were awarded a chamber scholarship can also reapply for scholarship money.
 
HAPPY HOUR
Cattleman’s, formerly Locked and Loaded Saloon, hosted a Happy Hour on February 17, 2016 so the community could meet the new General Manager, Martin Sanchez. The building is available for private parties and other functions. Keep them in mind the next time you want to host a party or meeting. We wish the best in this new endeavor.
 
LASALLE COUNTY FIRE STATION
The new fire station is now open. They had an all day open house on February 20. They are inviting the public to come by and visit the new facility. We are very happy for the county and the people of LaSalle County for such a state of the art fire house.
 
GUEST GATHERING
The Holiday Inn Express held a Guest Gathering and Ribbon Cutting on February 24 in celebration of their building being completely renovated. It is very nice and the rooms have a lot of new amenities. I am sure Julian, General Manager, would love for you to go by and check out the rooms.
 
RIBBON CUTTING
 
Main Stay Hotel held their ribbon cutting for their hotel on February 26. Please go by and welcome them to the community. We are very pleased to have them in the community. We wish them much success in this endeavor. I know they would be happy for you to go by and check out the hotel and the amenities they have to offer.
 
COOKIE DELIVERY
We delivered cookies to Page Aviation and Medina Electric Coop this month. We will be making two cookie deliveries a month to businesses showing them our appreciation for being a member of the Cotulla Chamber.
 
BUSINESS OF THE MONTH
 
The business of the month for March is the Country Store. We want to thank them for their membership and wish them many more years of success in the restaurant business. Owners are Jerry and Carly Cox.
 
WILD HOG COOKOFF
Wild Hog Cook-Off weekend is fast approaching. It starts on March 10 and runs through March 14. Please go out to the fairgrounds and support the Fair Association and the 4-H and FFA Booster Club. This for the children of LaSalle County so please go out and let them know you wish them the best.
 
BUSINESS MEETING
Board of Directors and Regular Membership meetings are on Tuesday March 8, 2016. Board of Directors at 5:00 P. M. and Regular Meeting at 6:00 P. M. at the A. B. Alexander Convention Center. Please make plans to attend..
 
On behalf of the Board of Directors, Board Members, Melinda and myself, we want to wish you a Happy Saint Patrick’s Day on March 17 and a Happy and Blessed Easter on March 27. May we all remember what our Savior did for us by dying on the cross and shedding His blood for the remission of our sins.
